Choosing Joy Now

living above the fray

It is easy to be faithful at Christmas time. The festive spirit, the hope of a baby in a manger. We all want to bow down and adore Him. It is much harder to come and be faithful as we follow the tough teachings of Jesus throughout the year. A call to put away our selfish desires, a call to purity and righteous living, a call to faithfulness to Him.

It is the call of Christmas ringing from Creation, as the world looked forward to this great advent, to the present, as we look back. Come. Come into His presence. Come, acknowledge Him as king. Come, all who are seeking. Come and worship Christ the Lord, the King of Kings. O come and adore Him.

O come all ye faithful joyful and triumphant
Oh come ye O come ye to Bethlehem;
come and behold him born the King of angels;
Oh come let us adore Him,
Oh come let us adore Him,
O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

God of God light of light
Lo, He not the virgin’s womb;
Very God begotten not created:
Oh come let us adore Him,
Oh come let us adore Him,
O come let us adore Him, Christ The Lord.

Sing choirs of angels sing in exultation
Sing all ye citizens of heaven above;
Glory to God in the highest:
Oh come let us adore Him,
Oh come let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ The Lord

See how the shepherds summoned to his cradle,
leaving their flocks, draw nigh with lowly fear
we too will thither hend our joyful footsteps;
Oh come let us adore Him,
Oh come let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.

The whole story of Christmas is a call to the faithful. Come.
